WOW! I cannot even describe the craziness around our household for the past month. Our poor little Kylie has had it rough. Severe foot pain, a hospitalization, MRI's of her foot, lots of pokes, tons of doctor's visits, a picc line. And the reason for all of this? Doctors believe she has osteomyelitis in a bone in her left foot. It all started a month ago with her screaming out in the middle of the night in excruciating pain. The entire situation has been a mess with doctors not being able to come to a diagnosis. We've seen orthopedics, rheumatology, and infectious disease. They are all leaning towards a bacterial infection in a bone now. Bone infections are very difficult to treat unfortunately. How she got this, we haven't a clue. The bone that is affected is a little bone on the top of her foot and orthopedic docs have never seen an infection in this bone in anyone before. Of course! Only us. Poor Kylie has to have the crazy tummy problems and the crazy foot problems. A week ago she had a picc line put in so that she can be on iv antibiotics for at least 6 weeks, probably more. And I get to be her nurse. I seriously should have gone to nursing school! If these current iv antibiotics do not work, we will be back to see orthopedics next week and she will most likely be in for some surgery. Would you please pray with us for Kylie?
Many of our school days this past month looked like this:
Hours and hours of just waiting in doctors offices and for procedures. Oh so tiring!
Chillin' with dad before heading back to the OR for a picc line.
The picc line.
And our growing girl. I'll leave you with this picture.
I do hope to be back soon with tons more pictures!
