My Obsession With Old Doors

If you don't already know, I love old doors. The handy husband comes across them every so often and brings them home. So far, Carson's bed, a corner shelf in our dining room as well as in the office are made from old doors. It just so happens that the hubby brought home another door last week, and so my mind has been dreaming of how we might use that door.

Right now, I am thinking a headboard for our bed would look amazing. How fun is this hanging table? I won't be doing this, but I think it is adorable!
Or, I could use the door in our homeschool classroom. Hmmmm, that would be a cute idea.
But in the end, I like the headboard idea the best. Here's another photo I found. I love the antique look given to this one.

I don't think this project will begin any time soon, but I'll let you know if that changes! Let me know if you've seen any other fun ways to use old doors!

Miss Kylie Turned 6!

It is so fun to look back at our little Kylie and see how she has grown!
It seems I can see a little bit of Austin in the next two pictures.
In celebration of Kylie's 6th birthday, Ky and I took a trip to KC for the weekend with my mom and sisters (minus Ginger since she just had Mason...we missed you Ginger!) Yes, our destination was the American Girl Doll Store!!
Oh the decsions!
And the purchase was finally made...Molly McIntyre!
Swimming at our hotel pool.
Aunt Kelsey styling Molly's hair.
Goodnight girls, Kit, and Molly.
Day 2: We had to make one more visit to the store with Molly in hand.
The doll hair salon.
And one last purchase. Happy birthday to you Kylie!

Lewis and Clark Monument

I have been terrible about taking pictures lately! And about posting the ones that I do get taken.

Anyway, a few weeks ago, we took a little road trip to look at all of the flooding. Kaycee took us up to Lewis and Clark Monument in Council Bluffs. We sure got the view! Kaycee proposed to me here 10 years ago. Wow, that's hard to believe! So it's fun to go back every once and a while.

Love these last two pictures of Carson and Kylie! Precious!

Still Here!

We are still here! I know it has been a while since I've posted. We've been super busy with just LIFE. Carson has finished up with a couple of sessions of summer school which he has loved! We've had appointments galore it seems...for Ky's tummy, Carson's 8 year old check, and baby #4. Everyone checked out well! It also feels good to be finished with swimming lessons and teaching VBS to 17 little pre-schoolers for 2.5 hours for 5 days! Whew! I've actually been able to breathe this week and my family has gotten to eat more than hot dogs and pizza for supper. It feels good to get some nutrition!

Anyway, now that life has settled down for a short time, my focus has been on homeschooling...locating forms, checking deadlines, figuring out curriculum, and so on.

And all this thinking about homeschooling has got me dreaming of my homeschool classroom. I have plans to eventually revamp our office and make it a school work area. I don't know if Kaycee is exactly excited about his office being taken over, but he'll get used to it :)

I LOVE this room...from the paint color, to the world map, to the work area set-up. This is my favorite picture by the way.

This is a fun homeschool room too.

And lastly, I don't intend on making my room look like a preschool classroom with all of the super bright colors. I much prefer the first photo. However, I love the organization of this picture. The handy husband already has an assignment for the school room...built in bookcases!!

This will be a great winter project after baby arrives!
