Meet Ozzie

Thankfully before Kaycee and I got married, we both agreed that we would never have any indoor pets. Outdoor pets? Perhaps someday if we'd live in the country. Well, I got quite the surprise today when Kaycee came home like this:
You should have heard the squeals. From the kids, it was pure excitement. From me, it was more like "don't let that cat scratch my furniture", "what if he needs to pee", "get that cat outside".

It sure will be interesting to see how long Ozzie will stick around. Something tells me not very long. At least for tonight, he's in the shed.

I was much calmer when the kids went down to the basement to play with kitty. Kaycee and the kids found a couple of boxes...one for his litter box in the shed and another for a little bed they made for him.

My Antiqued Cabinet

Sometimes the smallest changes make the biggest differences. In the case here, I'm referring to my entry way table that Kaycee brought home about 4 years ago. He got it from an elderly man that he worked for who no longer wanted it. I wish I had the original pictures of the cabinet. But unfortunately, I lost them when my computer crashed a few years back. You wouldn't even recognize this as the same piece of furniture. It had a top on it with two cabinet doors that opened. Kaycee took the top off due to its enormous size and we decided to keep the bottom half.
After removing the top half, he routered the edges of the drawers, added a little molding to spruce it up, painted it, and added new hardware. I've enjoyed my absolutely free and spacious cabinet for quite some time now.

About a month ago at breakfast one Saturday, Kaycee asked me what I thought about him giving the cabinet an antiqued effect. I didn't even have to think about it, I said, "Go for it!"

After breakfast, he got down to business. And I jetted to avoid the fumes.

It is amazing what a little dark walnut stain can do!

I love how the stain highlights his routered edges and moldings. I like how it brings out the hardware too.

It's an inexpensive and fun way to spruce up a piece of furniture.

Sometime soon I'll have to show you another recently finished project...my $10 craigslist finding!! I like this being pregnant. I find the furniture, he brings it to life :)

Back Again!

I know this is hard to believe, but I'm back again...twice in a week! This is pretty amazing considering the past two months.

This little man will be two in November! He is growing up way too fast.

Austin's favorite activity these days is sitting at the kitchen counter. And if you give him a toy and a snack, he'll sit there a really long time.

Carson had an awesome time on his school field trip to Vala's Pumpkin Patch.

He brought home a bag of three apples and a pumpkin. What fun!

And it's that time of year again! The kids love it when Kaycee starts a fire and brings out the marshmallows to roast.
